arthropodium cirrhatum (matapouri bay)

I have had two of these planted for a couple of years now and up until recently they were doing very well. Now I notice that one has collapsed in a messy pile (see photo). The cultural notes say dry to mostly moist soil, I guess after all the rain we are having just now the soil could be classed as mostly moist. The soil is reasonably good with plenty of organic matter in it. No sprays have been used recently as far as I can recall.

Can anyone offer any suggestions as to how I can improve this plant.

There's some snail damage there but the long, skinny leaves no longer supporting themselves seem to suggest that the plants need more sun than they're getting in that location.

Ah it is in a rather shady spot. I'll try repositioning it into a more sunny spot.

With regards to the snail damage, I'm a bit wary of snail bait as we have a small dog and he has already been hospitalised once through eating it from a neighbours garden.
