Back up the Mt Arthur track, the spear grass was another unconventional beauty. Not the sort a thing you'd plant at the front of a border – unless you wanted to deter intruders. It mightn't look welcoming but I wasn't deterred from getting up close and had bloody shins to prove it. So much colour contrast and architectural interest, it's a natural for a feature plant in contemporary style garden.
